Permian Basin
The Permian Basin is one of the largest and most prolific oil
and gas producing basins in the United States. This basin, first
discovered in 1921, extends over 100,000 square miles in West
Texas and New Mexico. Production from fields in this basin typically
have a long productive life and there are multiple pay horizons
in many areas. Many fields in the Permian Basin have been unitized
for waterflooding (secondary recovery) or carbon-dioxide (tiertiary)
flooding, thereby further extending the productive life of these
fields.
